October 9, 2008

…Herbie and I were married on a warm Phoenix evening, surrounded by family, friends, and margaritas, making goo-goo eyes at each other all the lovely night long.

We spent the night at the Orange Tree Golf Resort, not because either of us has anything but extreme loathing toward golf, but because of the king-sized, tempurpedic bed (we survive on a queen), and especially the in-room, 2-person jacuzzi spa tub.

Ooooooh, jacuzzi spa tub…

Ahem.

So we decided we’d like to celebrate our anniversary this year by revisiting that delightful tub/tempurpedic combo, and – AAAHHH! – spending our first night together away from Moo.

The grandparents are all set to go – they’ve even planned on how they’re going to lay out their pajamas so they can get changed for bed without waking Moo, who will be sleeping in their room – which is all just too adorable.

However, our plan has hit a major roadblock.  We waited too long, and now the Orange Tree is all booked up.

We have performed countless searches on Expedia, Travelocity and their siblings, and these are the only (reasonably affordable in hard economic times) hotels with spa tubs – Ick and Ew.  I mean, I’m sure they’re fine, clean establishments, but “romantic lavender tones and French art nouveau artwork [meaning on sale at Marshall’s]” is not quite our style.  I want… THIS.

We MUST have our jacuzzi tub.  Obviously.  We shall not rest until we find it!

UPDATE:  Expedia is king!  At exactly 12:01 a.m., a room opened up at the Orange Tree, and at a discounted rate at that!  Hooray!  All hail Expedia!

Now I must take stock of our bubble bath collection and see if it needs any new additions…

Happy Anniversary, sweet Herbie – you are the love of my life.  I still do.
